Senior Migration Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Google Workspace & Microsoft 365
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical SME for Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 migration projects.
Lead and support enterprise-scale migrations involving Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Drives, Google Calendar, Microsoft Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Teams, and related services.
Develop detailed migration strategies, plans, timelines, and technical approaches.
Assess existing Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environments, including users, groups, mailboxes, files, permissions, applications, and dependencies.
Design and execute migration waves, pilot programs, testing, validation, and production cutovers.
Perform migration readiness assessments and identify technical risks, dependencies, and potential blockers.
Troubleshoot migration issues related to email, calendars, identities, permissions, data integrity, synchronization, and coexistence.
Work with identity and security teams on Entra ID/Azure AD, Active Directory, SSO, MFA, federation, and identity synchronization requirements.
Support coexistence strategies between Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 during transition periods.
Develop migration runbooks, technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials.
Monitor migration activities and provide status updates, issue tracking, and escalation support.
Coordinate with vendors, third-party migration-tool providers, and internal technical teams.
Ensure migration activities follow organizational security, compliance, and data-protection requirements.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to migration engineers and project team members.
Participate in post-migration validation, remediation, and stabilization activities.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience in enterprise IT, messaging, collaboration platforms, or migration engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
Proven experience leading or supporting large-scale enterprise migrations.
Strong knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Drives, Google Calendar, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.
Experience with mailbox, file, calendar, collaboration, and identity migrations.
Strong understanding of Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
Experience with SSO, MFA, federation, identity synchronization, and authentication technologies.
Experience with migration planning, discovery, pilot testing, cutover, validation, and post-migration support.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to create technical documentation, migration runbooks, and architecture/design documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with migration tools such as BitTitan MigrationWiz, Quest, CloudM, Cloudiway, or similar enterprise migration platforms.
Experience with PowerShell and automation/scripting.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and security.
Experience with Google Admin Console and Google Workspace administration.
Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, retention, eDiscovery, and compliance requirements.
Experience with enterprise change management and large-scale technology transformation programs.
Relevant Microsoft or Google certifications are a plus.
